Its been a while since I last blogged. I’ve been so busy taking care of my baby who is now 3 weeks and 5 days old. Both of us are still trying to adjust and so far, I can say that I’m getting the hang of it.. being a hands on mom that is. I’m still trying to master the skills and learn some new techniques in taking care of the little one. I am also proud to say that I’m breastfeeding. It was tough at first but I’m glad that we have both adjusted to it.

I will post my birthing story soon (as requested by Nikki) when I have more time. This little boy is a handful kasi! I have so much to share so stay tuned.

After almost 3 weeks of waiting, she’s finally here.

I wish though that I got it in Caviar leather since the Lambskin is really delicate and much softer so it tends to have more wrinkles and scratches easily. I should’ve done more research about it :( But its all good. Its really gorgeous and elegant. I just have to be more careful storing and carrying it around. Hopefully I could own another (a bigger) one within the year :)

How I Celebrated My 30th April 24, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — tracypamela @ 10:39 am

I’m still in denial that I am already out of the 20s age bracket… still feel as though I’m just 25. Haha!

My friend told me “you should do something momentous since you’re now 30″. I replied, pointing to my big, stretch mark-infested tummy “Isn’t this more momentous?!” We both laughed. In just a few weeks, I will pop this little rascal out. I’m excited to finally meet this little boy who’s been causing all the aches and pains I’ve been feeling lately. Not to mention the start of my sleepless nights cause I can’t find the most comfy position while lying down without being feeling suffocated. I feel so nervous at the same time about the whole process of labor and giving birth. No matter how many stories and advices I get about it, I still feel so scared as this is the first time I will be confined in a hospital (actually got operated for appendicitis.. but I was just 2 years old then!) and will be in so much pain (at least from what my friends have shared). So now, I’m just holding on to what I have read and heard from everybody “It’ll be all worth it when you see and hold your baby”.

Anyway, moving on to my birthday celebration…

Friday, April 17: I was on birthday leave. It was also the perfect timing since I had a scheduled check up with my OB. Baby is doing very good. Just the right size and weight (at 2 kilos) for the age he is in. My weight gain was back on track. Just gained 2 pounds as of my last check up 2 weeks ago. I’m so glad I’m still within the ideal weight gain. After that, I met up with my family at the new Eastwood Mall to have dinner at Thousand Cranes Shabu Shabu. The food was great but the service really sucks. I don’t wanna go into details but the service people there have a lot of training and learning to do from their counterparts in Greenbelt and Trinoma branch.

Saturday, April 18 (my actual birthday):  My friend Karen, who passed the recent bar exams, and I were supposed to have a joint celebration but since the schedule was in conflict with her husband’s, we decided to schedule it some other time. Nevertheless, my friends wanted to have dinner since we have so much catching up to do. We decided to eat at The Stock Market at Bonifacio High Street. Food was great but it wasn’t something I would crave for. After dinner, we just had coffee, cold fraps actually since the weather that day was really hot.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks Kelly! Made me do something handwritten after a loooong time :)

Correction: I am RIGHT handed :) This only proves that I am so forgetful lately because of lack of sleep. As you all know, the summer weather is at its peak.. add to that all the symptoms of third trimester pregnancy (heavy tummy, itchy stretcmarks, manas, etc)!

TAKE ME TO SAN FRANCISCO PLEASE!!!!!

29 weeks and 1 day March 17, 2009

to be exact. That’s how old my little boy is.. in my tummy :) Time really flies so fast. In a few weeks, I’ll be officially a mom. Wow! Thinking about all the responsibilities that comes with the word “MOM” is really overwhelming. I really don’t know how and where to start.

WEIGHT GAIN

My check ups with the OB are now every two weeks. As of my check up yesterday, I was told to watch what I eat since I gained two pounds more than what I was supposed to. I was really overeating the past few days and with the weather getting hotter, I crave for Starbucks Mocha Frap (its decaf ok, so don’t worry) for my sweet and cold fix. From now on, no more Starbucks for me… or anything sweet and sinful for that matter. I’m craving pa naman for Razon’s Halo-Halo.. I guess I will have to save that for a special occassion (my birthday perhaps? haha!). I’m going to stock up instead on yoghurt and fresh fuits for my dessert. Its really hard for me to feel full if I don’t have my sweet fix at the end of every meal.

FAINTING SPELL

I almost fainted yesterday while I was standing up talking with my boss. It was such a scary experience for me! My vision was slowly becoming dark, my hands started to get numb and I was starting to have cold sweat. I was trying to reach for the chair beside me and I think my boss didn’t notice that I was feeling dizzy as he was still yakking away. Buti na lang his phone rang so our conversation was cut short and I went back to my cubicle. I immediately called my mom and told her that I wasn’t feeling well. I told her what was happening, she told me that my blood pressure suddenly dropped. True enough when they got my blood pressure, it was 90/60. Good thing I was also scheduled for a check up with my OB and she advised me to refrain from standing up too long. Even sitting down for long periods of time is also not good. She told me that while in the office, I should see to it that I have time to stand up and walk around for a few minutes to let the blood circulate more.

STRETCH MARKS

I finally have them!!! they ruined my perfectly smooth (naks!!) belly. I now have those nasty red marks which make me cringe everytime I see them. They are slowly taking over my entire tummy!! Even after religiously applying Palmer’s lotion, they still managed to find their way up from my puson up to an inch below my belly button. They’re like aliens!! I HATE IT AND THEY ITCH A LOT!!! I wonder if Mustela 9 Intensive Stretch Marks Reliever would do wonders? Or should I invest in Strivectin instead? Any feedbacks would be greatly appreciated :)

My First Baby Shower March 1, 2009

As promised, here is a picture of my first ever baby shower held last Feb 20 at the Fitness First Spa in RCBC Plaza Makati.

My friends treated me to a Decleor Facial which was really relaxing. Although my skin had red blotches after the facial, it felt smoother and softer. After 2 days, I can say that it had a different glow and lesser impurities. I badly needed that facial as my skin was a mess as an effect of pregnancy. As I was having my facial, I shared the couples’ room with Paolo. He availed of the hot stone massage and he really enjoyed it. He said that he needed pampering too as he was so stressed and tired from the demands in his work lately. My friends on the other hand were gathered in the other room having their full body massage.

Since I had a facial, I look terrible in the pictures coz I can’t put face powder to tone down the redness and shine. Here is one decent picture. So please bear with the “oilyness”! haha!!

The staff of Fitness First Spa in RCBC also gave me a bouquet of orange roses. It was really so sweet of them :)

After the shower, we headed to Greenbelt 5 to have a late dinner. We went to this Thai restaurant and the food was really awful. So awful that I can’t even remember the name of that resto!

After more than 3 years of being in service, my O2 Atom XDA phone finally decided to retire. With still no valentine present in mind, Paolo decided to get me this.

nokia-e63_04_lowresThe Nokia E63 in Ruby Red. I call her Scarlet.  Love the qwerty keyboard and the wi-fi.. and the price is really reasonable. You know how I don’t want to spend so much on gadgets for myself. At last, I can now somehow text with one hand :)

PREGNANCY UPDATES

I’m now on my 6th month and I can feel my little boy’s kicks are getting stronger. I love it when he moves and kicks around. I can see small bumps forming on my tummy whenever he does his “martial arts” stunts.

However, I’m starting to experience the “plagues” of pregnancy.. bad skin, bad hair, manas, bigger nose, dark armpits.. the works!!! but its all good.. basta gwapo anak ko! haha! :)

My friends are giving me a baby shower this friday at the spa at Fitness First in RCBC Plaza Makati. Why in Fitness First? My friend is their new spa consultant there so promotion na din yun.. hehe. They told me to register at Rustan’s, Baby & Co. and Mothercare so they’ll know what to give me.  I heard they shared the expense for my treatment. I’m so excited to find out what it  is.. I’ll post pictures as soon as I can..

Baby Stuff February 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — tracypamela @ 2:43 pm

Now that I’m on the last part of my second trimester (turning 6 months on Monday) and we know the gender of our baby (read all about it here), we are now starting to shop around for crib, stroller, bottles, teats, blankets and clothes. I never knew though there were a lot of things to consider and there are so many choices available out there. We plan to buy most, if not all in the US since its cheaper even if we add the cost of shipping the balikbayan box.

The sites that I visit everyday are Target and Babies R Us. Target was my one of my fave stores (aside from outlets and Forever21) when I was in the states last year. They have the nicest stuff at reasonable price. Its like SM but more chic and fab! Here, I found the crib that we saw in Rustan’s (Graco Pack N Play) at a little less than half the price in Rustan’s. When I checked yesterday, they were on sale!! Exciting isn’t it? :) I just hope that this will fit in the box!! Or else, major frustration! I’m also getting this cute bib from BabyBjorn, some onesies from Gerber (which I find really reasonable at $8 for a 5 pack set), Circo and Carters. As for me, I’m getting some nursing bra which is good for everyday/nighttime use (at only $12.95) and leggings. They are on sale too so I have to make my choices asap as stocks may run out.

Babies R Us is really a haven for baby needs. They carry a lot of brands and  more choices for each brand. Here I found a complete BPA free line of bottles, teats, pacifiers, sippy cups and mealtime sets. For the feeding bottles, my top choice would be Avent. I’m still thinking about Dr. Brown though as I’ve read from the reviews that the small parts are hard to clean.. but I still want to try and see if my baby will like it. My friend from the states recommended Playtex bottles with Drop Ins coz that what her 5-month old baby uses and she finds the drop ins very efficient as she hates sterilizing bottles. Now, instead of narrowing down my choices, its getting wider which makes it more difficult for me to decide. Meanwhile, let me share some of the stuff I’m getting over at Babies R Us.

kiddopotamus-dot-swaddleme-wrap-blue-999-brucarters-receiving-blanket-sage-dotfisher-price-rainforest-bath-center

The Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Blanket, Carter’s Receiving Blanket and the Fisher Price Rainforest Bath Center. I’m getting all excited with all these gears that my baby will be using :)

Last and most important would be the breastpump. I’m getting a Medela Pump In Style Advanced from www.addalittlelove.com. Its cheaper than Target and Babies R Us, although I’m planning to buy accessories for Medela at Target/Babies like the milk storage bags/bottles, a nipple shield and the microwave steam bag for sterilizing . I hope that breast feeding will really work for me so I can fully take advantage and maixmize the use of the pump.

There goes my initial list of things that I need to buy for our baby. For the stroller, we’re thinking of getting a Maclaren since its the most reasonably priced one. As for the car seat, we’re still thinking what brand/model/type would be best for us and the baby ofcourse.  If you still have some suggestions in mind on what would be the best to get for the baby in US, please let me know. There might be still some room in the box.
